Session 6 Recap
The session picks up right where we left off in session 5, with the group having found themselves in a chamber with five sarcophagi, each marked with a sigil, along with 5 cauldrons - each a different color, and 4 statues. It was deduced that the sigils act as keys, with Aspen able to unlock the sarcophagus marked with her sigil.
The gang attempted to find any way to interact with the other four sigils within the chamber, but finding none they soon resolved to move on. This decision was aided by the rapid appearance of a large gray creature of intimidating size and stature. Apen and T’Darrel quickly fled the scene, expecting the same of Hoppah and Jove. Unfortunately, Jove was knocked out and Hoppah had to engage in an attempt to save him. Utilizing the wild shape form of a saber toothed tiger, Hoppah engaged the massive gray creature and pulled Jove to safety. Ultimately, Hoppah and Jove exited to the antechamber with the creature immediately on their tails.
Aspen and T’Darrel were far enough away that immediate aid was impossible. Additionally, both of them were badly injured and the risk of engaging directly with the monster was high. Fortunately, through a stroke of deus ex flappina, an Aaracockra bearing the visage and wings of a golden eagle, dressed in bard regalia and carrying a lute appeared, seemingly from nowhere. He quickly revealed himself as, likely, friendly by healing both T’Darrel and Apsen to fightin state.
The party managed to eliminate the creature, but due to the time elapsed (or rather, time remaining to safely exit the forest) resolved to leave with the knowledge that Aspen was the key to both their re-entry and perhaps the remainder of the puzzle. Before leaving, Griss passed a note to Hoppah from The Hornet which instructed the party to make their way to the Rusty Pick and ask for a Roast Beef Sandwich. The group ran in circles for four hours before ultimately seeking help from a group of wisps. They were told the wisps knew the way out, but that it was, “Not safe.”
Having no other option, the party followed the wisps down the unsafe route which took them back to their prior camp where they last saw The Hornet. The Aaracockra, now revealed to the group as an associated of The Hornet’s named Griss, set up a Tiny Hut to protect the party while Jove set up an alarm perimeter around their location. The protection efforts were mostly futile, however, as after 4 hours the party was visited by The Dent, who looked on them plainly despite the cover of the Tiny Hut. The Dent came to deliver a message - turn yourselves and the Mask into the matriarch in exchange for a “good reward” or be killed on the spot as traitors.
Griss informed the party that The Dent has True Sight ability, and knew full well who was in the hut. After joining The Dent in a string duet of lute and fiddle, Griss successfully negotiated a 6 hour armistice.
